•  Chef Jenny Bristow, Belfast Maritime Festival & NI Seafood SeaFish Shows

On the weekend 30th June / 1 st July, Dolphin Sea Vegetable Company attended the Belfast

Maritime Festival on the banks of the River Lagan, Belfast . This was actually a “trial run” for

the Tall Ships Trans-Atlantic Challenge 2009 and 6 Tall Ships were on show, and the Nomadic

– the last link to the Titanic. (See pictures below)

More info on the Maritime Festival www.belfastcity.gov.uk/news/news.asp?id=370 and

the Tall Ships Trans-Atlantic Challenge 2009

We were there to promote seaweed / sea vegetables and how easy it is to use them. We were

asked by our local Famous Chef Jenny Bristow to provide some seaweed for her to cook with, in

her Masterclass. She came up with some excellent ideas and cooked with Carrageen / Irish Moss,

making an Irish Mist Carrageen Dessert. The recipe is on her website www.jennybristow.com

and is in her NEWSLETTER section http://www.jennybristow.com/newsletter/2007/summer/default.asp#maritime

or in the recipe section on our website www.dolphinseaveg.com .

We will be attending other shows with Northern Ireland Seafood – promoting the produce of

the sea. These will in the months of August / September and around the fishing ports of

Northern Ireland – Portavogie, Ardglass, Kilkeel, and Annalong.

•  Postal Strike – how it is affecting you and us.

The UK Post Office / Royal Mail are currently in negiotiations with their unions and are

threatening further strike action. We are keeping a close eye on things, but are

continuing to use Royal Mail. At the moment there is a slight delay in delivery times

– as strike action is being kept localised and sporadic.

If things escalate, we will then look at using another service for our deliveries.

•  A little taste of Belfast – City Centres Chocolates!

Box of City Centres

May 18th saw the launch of City Centres Ltd with the Lord Mayor – Cllr Pat McCarthy.

streets of Belfast City. So, if you fancy taking a nibble of the Shankill or a bite of the Albert Clock

– check out www.citycentres.com for more information.

I know, I know - you are wondering how we get manage to get chocolates into a

seaweed newsletter – but the brothers behind the idea are good friends of ours

– and we think it's a cracking idea and the chocolates are gorgeous! ;-)

For more info on the launch, please check out www.belfastcity.gov.uk/news/news.asp?id=884
